For students of Grade VI at Westminster Academy Islamabad, the Art and History lesson was integrated as our young Historians worked with clay and created their own clay tablet, just like the people of Mesopotamia did thousands of years ago to record information. Using simple tools, they carved symbols or patterns into the clay, experiencing how early humans developed one of the first writing systems.
This lesson helped them understand history in a hands-on way and made learning more fun. Working with clay improves creativity, fine motor skills and patience while strengthening their connection with the past. By integrating art with history, they get to imagine life in ancient times and appreciate how important communication and creativity have always been.
